Alanis Morissette

Alanis Morissette from Canada was born on June 1 1974 in Ottawa. Alanis is the feminine name of Alan which is her father's birth name. The name of her mother is Georgia and there are two brothers named Chad as well as Wade (Alanis"Twin). She began playing the piano at age 6 and the guitar at age 21. Alanis recorded a single back in the year 1986 titled Fate stay with me (b-side : Find The Right Man). In Canada, Alanis recorded two dance-pop albums: Alanis (in 1991) and Now Is The Time in 1992. When she was 18, she relocated to Toronto and collaborated with various singers and musicians, but the partnerships didn't go as planned. Glen Ballard was the producer/songwriter she decided to go with in 1994. Glen previously had worked alongside Aretha Frankin Michael Jackson and Barbra Strreisand. They moved to LA in the year she turned 19 years old. In June of 1995 "Jagged Little Pill" was made available via Madonna's Maverick Records. Alanis came up with a method for recording songs that were very personal and autobiographical. JLP has sold more than 30 million copies around the world and is the most-sold female-oriented album ever. Also, it is the third-most popular album of all time.
